About the Book

This Book broadly consists of three sections concerned mainly with the principles of aerial photography and elementary photo-grammetry, fundamentals of photo-interpretation and applications to the main fields of investigation. The first eight chapters are exclusively devoted to the fundamentals of aerial photography, instrumentation, techniques of map compilation and quantitative determination of geologic data. In addition, an elaborate account on the newer techniques of photography and remote sensing has also been included. Since, the photogeological investigations involve studies chiefly of geomorphology, lithology and structural geology, these chapters have been dealt in greater detail. Realizing the significance of drainage as an important element of photo-interpretation, a separate chapter has been assigned to it. As far as the application aspect is concerned, the chapters on its application to Engineering geology, ground-water surveys, and mineral and petroleum exploration have been presented in greater details.
