About the Author

Embassy of the United States of America odh K Singh is working as a Political/Labor Specialist at the Embassy of the United States of America in Kathmandu since 1993 He previously served as a Children's Rights Director at the Institute for Human Rights, Environment and Development (INHURED), Nepal from 1990 to 1993. He presented a paper on "Bonded Labor in Nepal" during the first International Conference on "Human Rights and Transition to Democracy" in Kathmandu in 1991 He also" served as a Coordinator for the Special Rapporteur of the UN Commission on Human Rights "On the Sale of Children" in 1991 He was a speaker at the International Seminar on "Human Rights Violation in the Himalayas" organized by Peace Movement Nepal and Nepal Watch Germany in 1992 He participated in a conference on "Global Warming and its Effect on South Asian Region" in Bombay, India in 1 993, and in "Asian Regional Forced Child Labor Symposium" organized by the United States Customs Service, Bangkok, in 2001. He also participated in "Labor Rights Training Conference" held in Bangkok in 2004. He received "Political Training" at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center, Foreign Service Institute, Virginia, U.S.A in 1998 He also received "Labor Officers Training" in 2002 and "Commercial Training" in 2004 from the National Foreign Affairs Training Center, Foreign Service Institute, Virginia, U.S.A.

He was born on July 21, 1961 in Saptari District, Nepal. He holds a Master's degree in Political Science and a Bachelor's degree in Law from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He is married, and has two children.
