About the Author

Asok Kumar Sarkar, an alumnus of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, is presently Reader and Head in the Department of Social Work, Assam (Central) University, Silchar. Also, he is associated in different capacities with several universities and institutes like Visva Bharati University, Vidyasagar University, Indira Gandhi National Open University, and Institute of Development Studies, Kolkata.

Dr. Sarkar has participated in many national and international conferences, and published research articles in the journals of repute. His areas of research activities include maternal morbidity, reproductive health, NGO management and social development through them.
